A new musical horizon for young pianists and organists: the Transylvania Musical Interpretation Competition

The "Sigismund Toduță" College of Music in Cluj-Napoca enthusiastically announces the first edition of the "Transilvania" musical interpretation competition, dedicated to talented students from pre-university vocational education, grades IV-XII, who study piano and organ. The event, which will take place between February 27 and March 2, 2025, promises to be a celebration of musical art, offering participants the opportunity to shine on stage and demonstrate their mastery.

With extensive experience in organizing large-scale cultural events, the "Sigismund Toduță" College of Music in Cluj-Napoca has gained an international reputation for promoting musical excellence. The competitions held under the aegis of this prestigious institution have attracted talented participants over the years, being recognized for their professionalism and artistic value.

A competition with international opening

The "Transylvania" Musical Interpretation Competition maintains the high standards of the events organized by this college, with an international component that offers participants the chance to compete with young artists from various countries. This global openness increases competitiveness and contributes to the exchange of ideas and interpretative styles, raising the artistic level of the event.

Over time, the events organized by the college have become landmarks for the international musical community, bringing together the most promising young artists and an audience loving quality music. The "Transilvania" Musical Interpretation Competition continues this tradition, transforming Cluj-Napoca into a true center of musical art.

This first edition of the competition promises to be a celebration of musical talent and diversity, opening the doors to a new generation of artists to inspire and enrich the international cultural heritage.

Two sections full of virtuosity

The competition is structured in two sections: piano and organ, and the requested repertoire includes works from the Baroque and Classical eras, as well as from a modern stylistic diversity. Students will have the opportunity to choose their pieces, provided that they respect the rigor of classical music. The time allocated to the performance gradually increases depending on the class, emphasizing the evolution and development of musical skills.

The instruments used in this competition are of the highest quality:

In the Piano Section, thanks to the generosity of  SoundCreation the instrument provided is an Yamaha CFX piano - a top-of-the-line model, ranked among the top 4 in the world.

In the Organ Section, thanks to the courtesy of the "Gheorghe Dima" National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, the instrument provided is the Samuel Maetz organ, located in a specially arranged hall.

Generous awards and international recognition

The competition offers attractive prizes, including the Absolute First Prize of the category/class (750 lei) and the Grand Prize of the competition (1,500 lei), sponsored by Burn Fitness Club . These prizes will reward the excellence of young musicians. In addition, special prizes, such as the Mozart and Bach Prizes, each worth 1,000 lei, will be awarded to highlight the talent and interpretive sensitivity of the participants.

The jury will be made up of university professors and prominent figures from the music scene, ensuring an objective evaluation. Their presence gives the competition added credibility and educational value.
